How to choose a wall charger
1. Match the wattage to your device.
- 20W to 30W fast-charges iPhones and most Android phones.
- 30W to 45W charges iPads, tablets and many Samsung phones at full speed.
- 60W to 100W powers laptops such as MacBooks and USB-C Windows notebooks. Alogic's 100W GaN charger is our most powerful.
2. Count your devices. Two-, three- and four-port chargers handle a phone, earbuds and laptop from one outlet. On multi-port chargers, the total wattage is shared, so check the per-port numbers on the product page.
3. Choose USB-C if you can. USB-C Power Delivery (PD) is the fast-charging standard for current phones and laptops. USB-A ports are still useful for older cables and accessories.
4. Consider GaN for travel. GaN (gallium nitride) chargers are much smaller and run cooler than older chargers of the same wattage. Foldable prongs and Alogic models with international plug adapters make them easy to pack.
Wall charger FAQ
Will a higher-watt charger damage my phone?
No. USB-C PD chargers and devices agree on a safe speed, so your phone only draws what it can handle. A 65W charger is safe for a phone.
Do I need a special cable for fast charging?
Use a USB-C cable rated for the wattage you need. Laptops at 60W and above need a cable rated for 60W or 100W. Several chargers here include one.
Does Apple include a charger with new iPhones?
No. New iPhones come with a USB-C cable only, so you'll need a 20W or higher USB-C charger for fast charging.
